The following is a copy of the A-21-03 Consumer Letter. Vehicles affected by this bulletin will receive notification by mail to the address the vehicle is registered to.
Dear Polaris Owner,
We want to thank you for being a Polaris Sportsman owner! You, and all our owners, are the reason we work to make Polaris Sportsman the smoothest, strongest, and most versatile ATV.
The reason for this notice:
Polaris has determined that some 2021 Sportsman 450 / 570 vehicles were produced with an Engine Control Unit (ECU) that wasn’t properly protected. When servicing the battery with metal tools, a battery charger, or jumper cables, it is possible to accidentally damage the ECU if contact is made between the ECU and battery terminals, which can render the vehicle inoperable. In order to keep your Sportsman in top riding condition and prevent vehicle down time, Polaris is notifying you of this issue and sending you an ECU cover to install on your vehicle.
What you should do:
Option 1: Refer to the attached procedure for instructions on how to install the ECU cover included with this mailing and install the ECU cover onto your Sportsman. In addition to the attached procedure, see below for how to access an installation video showing all the steps required to complete installation of the ECU cover.

Option 2: Contact your authorized Polaris Dealer to schedule an appointment to have the repairs performed. This repair should take approximately 15 minutes. When contacting your dealer, discuss parts availability, their schedule, and how long they will need you to keep your vehicle.

If you select option 2, your Polaris Dealer has been authorized to complete the procedure at no cost to you.
This notice was mailed to you according to our most current registration information. If you no longer own this vehicle, or if some of the contact information in this notice is incorrect, please contact your dealer to complete a transfer of ownership.
